Protecting our freedom to vote demands visible, sustained defiance to any efforts that threaten our ability to cast our votes, have them counted and see the will of the people prevail.
History shows that voting rights are never permanently secured; they need ongoing vigilance and robust organizing within communities themselves.

Share a clear message (“Hands Off Our Vote" “Voters Decide”) and show people everywhere that regular folks are getting involved—this builds agency that ‘we the people’ can and must vote in record numbers and act together to see the will of the people prevail.

Support neighborhood defenses, including Know Your Rights trainings and ways to stay safe and vote safely in the face of ICE or other federal intervention, using strategies that have worked in places like Minnesota, Ohio and Los Angeles.

Push for early voting to be the standard—safe and easy to reach—so people can vote well before Election Day.

Get ready to act together in your community and across the country to demand our votes are counted in the event of a government attempt to sabotage the election.

Where Action Is the Narrative
The following menu of actions helps us drive these imperatives by creating moments that people can see and share. Every meeting with a local election official, town hall, precinct walk, or accountability action becomes an opportunity to show community members standing up; build the organizing muscle we need to protect our elections; AND become part of a powerful narrative that people across the country are coming together to protect our freedoms and demand free and democratic elections. Lastly, coordinated visibility creates a national wave as we reinforce a shared message (#HandsOffOurVote, #VotersDecide).
Activate the vote & Vote Early
Coordinate peer-to-peer outreach to support community members in:
Register to vote & check your voter registration.
Make a plan to vote early.
VOTE EARLY. Vote as early as possible, either in person or by mail.
Vote in large numbers to show community strength.

Organize a “Thank a Local Election Official” Day of Action
Thank your local election officials for doing their job and following the law — you could organize a meeting or town hall, launch a Thank You Card campaign, and more.
This will facilitate relationship building and positive reinforcement with their election officials. Take photos and videos to uplift on social media for awareness and accountability. Use #VotersDecide.

Direct visibility actions targeting congressional and/ or statewide elected officials who undermine election integrity.
Actions may include attending town halls and running targeted social media campaigns that demand they uphold the lawful administration of elections.

Get businesses in your community to sign the pledge committing to support democracy and protect our vote, starting locally with neighborhood small businesses.
Visible participation by aligned local businesses demonstrates how widespread the support for fair elections is, while silence from large corporate leaders should be met with escalating accountability from local organizations.
Host Community
trainings
Host workshops on civics education, nonviolent direct action, and legal observation. These sessions will equip volunteers with the skills to handle federal interference (including ICE/ feds at the polls), document interference safely, and mobilize for accountability.
